Thinking Tuesdays ?

Thinking Tuesdays is a chance for children in Room 4 to explore a range of scientific and philosophical concepts. So far this term we have done a range of simple science experiments that have looked at the nature of air, fire, heat and lipids (that's fat for all you non-chemists).

Here are a few photos from our latest experiment. We added food colouring and dishwashing detergent to a saucer of milk. During this experiment we were learning to observe carefully so we could later write what happened. We really enjoyed this experiment especially when we were able to put the dye in the saucer ourselves.

Off to a great start!

Welcome back to Term 2. We have really dived straight in and have begun a really interesting maths unit on shapes (both 2D and 3D), check out what we have done so far... 

"I have made a jet plane with triangle wings."

"We have a circle and triangle. Triangles have three sides."

"I have made a person, who has a round bomb."

"I have made two rockets. One has been made with an orange  oblong, it also has square yellow windows."

"I have made a caterpillar that has four squares for its body."

"I have made a house with two green triangles for its roof."

Our Swimming Display

Last Friday we had our swimming display. We had lots of fun showing everyone just how good we all are at swimming.

A Treasure Hunt

A salty pirate came to visit our school. He had lost his ship but still had his treasure map. Judy stole the map when he wasn't looking (naughty Judy). As a class we looked at the map after the pirate had gone. We thought the map looked like Tahuna beach so we booked some buses and went to look for the treasure. At the beach we ran into the pirate, and guess what he was doing... looking for his treasure too! We worked together with our big buddies and the pirate and eventually found the chest full of treasure! Yum!
